Pan-African Canadian Food Sovereignty Network (PACFSN) core principles guiding our mission:

  • Hunger Alleviation: We believe that hunger should have no place in our society. We are dedicated to alleviating hunger by ensuring that nutritious food is accessible to everyone, regardless of their circumstances.
  • Supporting African Canadian Farmers: We recognize the invaluable contributions of Black farmers to our agricultural heritage and food system. We work to provide them with the resources, opportunities, and recognition they deserve, fostering their growth and prosperity.
  • Community-Centric Approach: We place communities at the heart of our efforts. We work collaboratively with communities to identify their unique food security challenges and co-create solutions that empower them to take ownership of their food needs.
  • Sustainability: Sustainability is at the core of our work. We advocate for and support sustainable farming practices that ensure the long-term health of our planet and food system.
  • Education and Empowerment: We believe that knowledge is a powerful tool for change. We empower individuals and communities with education on food production, nutrition, and advocacy, enabling them to make informed choices and drive change.
  • Equity and Inclusion: We are committed to dismantling systemic barriers within the food system. We actively promote equity and inclusion for all, ensuring that marginalized communities have an equal say in shaping their food future.
  • Collaboration: We recognize that no single entity can solve the complex issue of food security. We foster collaboration among farmers, policymakers, community organizations, businesses, and individuals to create a comprehensive and sustainable solution.

Together, we work to build a food security ecosystem that not only eradicates hunger but also uplifts the livelihoods of African Canadian  farmers and enriches the lives of all participants in the food system. Our vision is a community where everyone enjoys nutritious meals, Black farmers thrive, and food security is a fundamental human right for all.
